Verification of Ohm's Law

Physics Laboratory (PHY-101)

Name: Rohan Sharma | Roll: 2024PHB1024 | Date: 2026-07-15

1. Objective / Aim

To verify Ohm's law and determine the resistance of a given wire by plotting a graph of potential difference versus current.

2. Apparatus Required

Ammeter (0-3A), Voltmeter (0-5V), Rheostat, Resistance Wire, Battery Eliminator, One-way key, and Connecting wires.

3. Theory

According to Ohm's law, the electric current (I) flowing through a conductor is directly proportional to the potential difference (V) applied across its ends, provided the physical conditions (temperature, strain, etc.) remain constant. V = I * R => R = V / I

4. Observations Data Grid

No.Voltage (V)Current (A)Resistance R = V/I (Ω)
11.50.35.0
23.00.65.0
34.50.95.0

5. Conclusion

The graph between potential difference (V) and current (I) is a straight line passing through the origin. This verifies Ohm's Law. The resistance of the wire is found to be constant.

About Lab Report Formatter

Streamlining Scientific Lab Records

Writing up lab reports is a standard requirement in science and engineering programs. A typical lab record must contain distinct sections: a clear title block, a stated objective, lists of materials used, the underlying scientific theory, step-by-step procedures, numerical observations, and final calculations.

Formulating and printing this structure manually can take hours. The Lab Report Formatter provides a standardized template where you can fill in details, manage rows in an observations grid, and download a print-ready PDF instantly.

Interactive Data Grid Calculations

If you are verifying equations (like finding resistance $R = V/I$ or gravity coefficients), the data grid automatically evaluates divisions and products for you. Simply input your numeric measurements, and the system compiles the result column dynamically, verifying your mathematical precision.
